At KS3 pupils follow a course of study based on the National Strategy and National Curriculum for Art.
A wide range of resources, suited artrooms and excellent ICT facilities support the teaching and learning programme.
Y7 pupils are encouraged to develop new skills, experiment with a range of media and exercise their imaginations. Themed projects, research skills and the study and appreciation of the work of other artists form the basis of artwork developed in years 8 and 9.
'Assessment for Learning' underpins planning and delivery and art coursework is assessed to National Curriculum levels.
In DT pupils are encouraged to develop enquiring minds and creative approaches towards
problem solving. Focused tasks and design & make activities enable pupils to develop
knowledge about materials & processes and skills in designing and
manufacturing products.
Through a rotational system, pupilsl experience working with food, resistant materials and graphic products. The KS3 course can lead to GCSE courses in Food Technology, Product Design and Resistant Materials.
