Science
Spotlight Science is followed by all the pupils. It is a well differentiated course and contains resources to cover all abilities. The course addresses all the N.C. requirements and has been mapped to the QCA standards.
Aspects of the National Strategy have been implemented. Currently pupils are taught in mixed ability groups in Year 7, although we are strongly considering moving to setting next year.
In Years 8 & 9 pupils are set mainly according to ability. Groups however are dynamic and pupils are continuously moved according to performance throughout the keystage.
A wide variety of teaching and learning approaches are used and staff are encouraged to engage pupils in independent learning activities wherever possible.
