Gifted & Talented Support
Each subject area assesses pupil talent and ability. Those that achieve highly in an individual subject are further stretched with more challenging work and extension activities or through mentoring support and small group work. Additionally, special events and activities are co-ordinated, both within school and across the LEA, that enrich the curriculum our pupils receive.
Gifted and Talented pupils are attached to a Learning Mentor who helps to:
- track academic progress;
- advise on learning techniques;
- develop pupil performance;
- develop pupil independence;
- develop self-assurance and confidence;
- develop an understanding of how to
maximise unique gifts and talents; - raise aspirations.
This whole school process is essential in developing high aspirations in all children so that the full potential of all pupils can be achieved.
“Very good links with local colleges enhance the school's strong provision of vocational courses”
