Clifton has an outstanding reputation for the quality of care we provide for our children. This is because the welfare of our pupils is at the very heart of our school and its work. Group Tutors - led by Year Co-ordinators and their Assistants - will be the lynch pin of a child’s school career. The pastoral team will have the oversight for each pupil. This includes:
- transition from junior school
- monitoring academic progress
- checking termly scores
- pupil welfare
- mentoring regularly
- attendance
- social skills
- Personal, Social and Health Education
- liaising with parents and providing annual reports
- movement from KS3 to KS4 including guided option choices
- advice on post 16 career routes
We believe in a strong and equal partnership with parents and you are always encouraged to contact us if you have a concern about your child's progress or welfare.
All pupils receive a Progress File at the end of the school year. This document details the progress each pupil has made in each of the subjects they have studied. Throughout the year, pupils are awarded Effort Scores and National Curriculum Levels at KS3 and Estimated Grades at KS4. These are recorded by the pupils in their personal planners.
Consultation days are organised for each year group. At these times timetables are suspended for pupils and Group Tutors invite parents into school to discuss the academic and social development of their children.
The parents of Year 7 pupils are also invited into school to meet the Group Tutor during October of their first term. This is an opportunity to assess how well pupils have settled into their secondary education at Clifton: A Community Arts School.
